  • Education - Distribution of Tablets PCs to schools

    The first of three phases of the educational initiative "1 Tablet per child" will be launched in May. Under this program primary school students of internet-ready schools will be provided with Tablet PCs. Further schools are to be followed as soon as they have an appropriate infrastructure.
    Now technical data of the so-called "Prathom 1" Tablet became public: The Android system will be based on a dual core CPU of 16 GHz and 512MB RAM. With their latest policies, the ministry of education fostered the support of new media technologies in schools.
    In total, the project comprises over 900.000 Tablets being distributed to pupils in Thailand. Due to high budget costs of 1.9 billion baht, the projects also faced criticism.
